How to Make HOMEMADE GRANOLA

Ready to try this granola?!? Just mix up some oil, water, vanilla and salt and pour it over a bowl of oats, sugar and nuts. Once you mix it all together and spread it onto cookie sheets, you’re about done with the work, you’ll just need to stir it every 30 minutes while it is in the oven. Once it is crunchy and cooled, you can add in whatever dried fruit you like! 

I made a large batch and put walnuts and craisins in one half, and almonds and a chopped up tropical trail mix in the other. They were both delicious and stayed fresh in my pantry for several weeks. It is certainly worth a little extra time one day to make enough breakfast for dozens of days! We love having this breakfast option for those days we need a quick and filling breakfast.

Ingredients
  1. 7 cups quick oats
  2. 7 cups old fashioned oats
  3. 2 cups brown sugar
  4. 3-4 cups nuts
  5. 1 cup oil
  6. 1 cup hot water
  7. 2 Tbs vanilla
  8. 1 Tbs salt
Instructions
  1. Combine oats, sugar and nuts in a large bowl.
  2. In a small bowl, mix together oil, water, vanilla and salt.
  3. Pour the liquid mixture over the dry ingredients.
  4. Spread in 3 large pans and bake at 225° for 2 1/2 - 3 hours. Stir every 30 minutes.
  5. Let cool and add in any other ingredients.

It’s so easy that my kids frequently make it by themselves. When I announce it’s Chicken Taco Soup night, I literally get cheers from all four of my kids (and even my husband). 😉

#1, the ingredients in this recipe are considered pantry staples at my house :-), but we all LOVE Mexican flavors and are used to eating tacos once a week. So for me, I know I almost always have these basic ingredients on hand to prepare this soup, which is a huge plus!

One of my favorite teas of all times is hibiscus tea . . . not just any hibiscus tea. It’s got to be hibiscus tea brewed from dried hibiscus flowers!
If you’ve never had it, you have no idea what you’re missing out on. 🙂  It is not even comparable to any hibiscus tea you find in tea bags at your local grocery store either! It has its own rich taste. This is such an easy recipe, too . . . so quick to make and you’ve got yourself an amazing, refreshing drink. And, if you make it with a sweetener, you can have a refreshing drink with no calories!

I think I can taste it right now just thinking about it. Haha!
