Simple ingredients, easy prep, and big flavor make this sandwich a winner!

To make 8 sandwiches, you’ll need:

3 lbs. boneless skinless chicken breasts

3/4 c. Italian dressing

1 lb. bacon

1/4 c. brown sugar

1 tsp. pepper

8 slices Colby Jack cheese

8 leaves romaine lettuce

1 bottle BBQ sauce (we used Kroger’s sweet and zesty)

8 hamburger buns

For the chicken:

Cut each chicken breast in half and pound with a meat tenderizer.

Marinate the chicken in the Italian dressing for 30 minutes.

Grill on medium high for 5-6 minutes per side.

For the bacon:

Lay strips of bacon on cookie sheet covered with parchment paper.

Mix the brown sugar and pepper together, and press mixture into each slice of bacon.

Bake at 350 F for 25-30 minutes or until crispy. Remove from pan and let cool slightly.

For the buns:

Melt 4 tablespoons of butter in a large skillet over medium high heat.

Place the top halves of the buns in the butter (flat side down) and toast for 3-4 minutes or until golden and crispy.

To assemble the sandwich, take the bottom bun and place the lettuce leaf on top. Next place the chicken, then a slice of cheese, then 2 strips of bacon. Finish it off with the BBQ sauce. Add the top toasted bun and enjoy!
