CRACKER BARREL COPYCAT RECIPE – BRUSSEL SPROUTS N KALE SALAD – SHREDDED BRUSSEL SPROUTS AND KALE, CRAISINS, AND PECANS, DRESSED IN A MAPLE VINAIGRETTE
Have you tried this new side at Cracker Barrel? It’s a delicious healthy salad of shredded brussel sprouts and kale, craisins, and crunchy pecans, all dressed in a maple vinaigrette. And it’s so easy to make at home! I put this recipe together and it tastes just like the real deal 🙂
You’ll just need 4 basic ingredients for the salad: brussel sprouts, kale, craisins, and pecans.

Shred or chop the brussel sprouts and kale as thinly as possible. You want them to be like shaved strands. You should have fairly equal amounts of kale and brussel sprouts.
Toast the pecans in a skillet over high heat for 60-90 seconds. Add the pecans and the craisins to the bowl.
Next mix up the maple vinaigrette and pour it over the salad.
Toss salad until coated in vinaigrette and let sit in fridge for at least 4 hours or overnight.
That’s it! Such an easy and tasty fresh healthy side. 🙂

May 29, 2019Do you include the hard core of the Brussels Sprouts or remove it? Use a chopper to chop both Brussels Sprouts and Kale. Is there an easier method?

May 30, 2019Hi John! We slice the hard core off of the end of the Brussel sprouts and throw it away. Then you can either slice the Brussel sprouts and kale by hand, or even use a food processor to chop them to the desired size!

July 29, 2019Great recipe! I’ve only had the cracker barrel version once but this tastes about like I remember. I used about half the amount of craisins and pecans – I used toasted, chopped pecans, maybe the flavor goes further? Easy enough to adjust to taste. The longer this sits in the fridge, the better it gets.

August 17, 2019What would be considered a serving? I want to keep it around 300 calories if possible. Thank you for sharing.

February 20, 2020Did you know that the name of the vegetable is Brussels sprouts? I believe they’re named after the capital of Belgium. I would love to see the missing “s” added to “Brussel.” 🙂

January 4, 2022I had some curly kale in my garden and some brussels sprouts in the fridge. I need a salad to go with the main dish (15 bean soup) for supper. Since I had all the ingredients I decided to try your recipe. I tasted it when it was put together, and added a little sea salt and freshly ground pepper (to suit my taste). It is very good, even before it marinates. I will be making this again! Thank you.
