How I Styled My 2019 Winter Mantle

How I Styled My 2019 Winter Mantle

I love changing up the mantle with the different seasons! I branched out this year and did something a little different from my normal completely rustic mantle scape and I’m so pleased with how it turned out! My sister made these adorable white yarn-wrapped trees and I love the way they add a soft feminine touch to the mantle.

So this year, I decided to go with an elegant rustic look on my mantle. Our living room had to get a little rearranging to fit our 9-foot tree in the corner where the piano normally is so our faux fireplace and a few things had to be moved around . . . but it still looks great 🙂

I started out by lying out a thin felt scarf that I got from Hobby Lobby – it has a little bit of fringe on it and embossed snowflakes. It’s simple, but adds the perfect touch. And it’s always good to lay down something like a table runner or strip of fabric to form a kind of base for your mantle scape.

Then, I placed my central focal art piece in the middle of the mantle – the beautiful pallet sign from Hobby Lobby. I love how it’s a little rustic and a little elegant! I think it’s a beautiful balance and the perfect central focus on the mantle.

Next, I added some antlers around the sign (real ones from a buck my boyfriend shot 🙂 he’s awesome) to add some depth and dimension. I like how they add a rustic touch but they still have that white neutral look that goes with the gold. I didn’t want them totally symmetrical around the sign so I just played around with them for a little while until I got them a way I liked them.

Then I added the gold trees and the white yarn-wrapped trees – three on each side. The two gold trees on the left have battery-operated fairy lights in them and the tallest gold one on the right has white Christmas lights. I just stuffed the light strands up into the trees before I positioned the tress where I wanted them. You don’t have to put lights in, but I wanted to add them because the trees just sparkle when the lights shine through and make it look so magical!

The gold trees are from JoAnn Fabrics – I’m not sure if they still sell them or not – we got them a few years ago. They come in three separate sizes, not a set of three.

The yarn wrapped trees were made by my sister and I just love the soft touch they add! They’re so so pretty and soften the whole mantle scape 🙂 They are seriously so easy to make and you can be very creative with them. I think some made with blush pink yarn would be so pretty or maybe some earth-toned colored yarn! Whatever colors your Christmas decor is . . .

I love how she added small pearls to the medium-sized one!! They add a beautiful elegant touch.

The ornaments are also from Hobby Lobby 🙂 I don’t see the exact ones on their website but here are similar ones. I just distributed them over the mantle wherever it seemed like they were needed 🙂 The nice thing about adding little random decorations like ornaments is you don’t HAVE to put them certain places – just add them wherever seems like they are needed. It’s really whatever your preference is!

So there you have it! A fairly easy but elegant and beautiful mantle scape for winter. I’m so happy with how this year’s mantle scape turned out 🙂
