One of my favorite things to splurge on on my Starbucks drink out is adding cold foam to my iced Americano. So yummy! Did you know you can make cold foam at home with only 3 ingredients? When you want that yummy deliciousness at home, you can have it in less than 2 minutes. And what is so cool about this homemade cold foam is that you use store bought coffee creamer, so the possibilities of flavors are endless! So fun that you can make SO many flavors!
Use Any Coffee Creamer to Make Cold Foam!
For my afternoon pick-me-up, I like to take some cold brew coffee and add some cold foam. It’s the perfect coffee treat. Remember we posted last week, HOW TO MAKE COLD BREW THE EASY WAY? This cold brew is easy to make and refrigerate and ready to have throughout the week.
But when I don’t have cold brew made, this Stok cold brew is my go-to ready to drink coffee. I like to drink my coffee normally un-sweet, so this is perfect for me. But, if you like to drink your coffee sweeter, they make this in ‘Not Too Sweet’ as well.
LET’S MAKE THE COLD FOAM:
(scroll to the end for the entire recipe)
To make cold foam, you only need is
- heavy whipping cream
- your choice of refrigerated, liquid coffee creamer
- 2% milk
In a glass measuring cup, combine the 3 ingredients.
When I saw this coconut creme flavored creamer, I knew this was one I needed to try!
Using a frother, froth this liquid for about 30 seconds or until it starts to thicken up. The more you froth it, the more it’s going to turn into a heavier foam, so don’t froth for too long! 🙂
I used this frother that is attached to the Ninja coffee maker, and boy did it do the job! If you want to save money in getting less coffee when you’re out, this coffee maker can create delicious lattes, macchiatos, cappuccinos, and other coffeehouse-style drinks.
THIS IS A PRODUCT I HIGHLY RECOMMEND!
A Ninja coffee maker is not something you have to have though! A simple hand held frother works too, and it will froth it up nicely! This hand held frother has great reviews on Amazon.
Pour your cold brew over ice. Now, if you like your coffee sweet, you will want to add sugar or sweetener to your cold brew before you top it with the cold foam, unless of course you have an already sweetened cold brew coffee.
And top it with some delicious creamy cold foam. Yum, yum 🙂
You can also mix up your liquid ingredients and have in the fridge. Then, when you want to make some cold foam, simply pour out as much as you want and froth it up.
I was curious how sugar-free coffee creamer would froth up, and from my experience, it frothed into foam nicely; it just took a little longer to froth over the non sugar-free creamer.
Ahhhh, this can be super fun to make in all the fun flavors! From holiday flavors like pumpkin spice, and peppermint mocha, to some of the classics as sweet cream, hazelnut and vanilla, to the unique, fun ones like Snickers, Cinnamon toast crunch, liquid cookie cocoa…..the flavors of cold foams you can make are endless!
- 1/4 cup heavy whipping cream
- 1/4 cup flavored liquid coffee creamer
- 1/4 cup 2% milk
- Mix all ingredients in a glass measuring cup.
- Using a hand held frother or frother on your Ninja coffee maker, froth for about 20-30 seconds or until it looks foamy.
- Fill 2 glasses with ice and cold brew or iced coffee and top with the cold foam topping.
The longer you froth it, the thicker it's going to get. And, you're not looking to top your coffee with whipped cream, so don't over froth!
