I found the wood letter at AC Moore and the small wood base at Hobby Lobby. The Rust-oleum metallic finish spray paint was from Wal-mart. You can find wood letters at any craft store and wood rectangles come in several different sizes. I just made sure the letter easily fit on this size piece of wood, and that it was light weight since it will be sitting on the top of the cake. I also made sure the rectangle was not wider than 6″ since my top tier was a 6″ round cake.

I glued my letter and base together with a hot glue gun first thing, but…. it may be better to use super glue. Mine is a little messy looking, but I figure the thick frosting border I like to do, will hide the entire base. 😉 Next time, I will be using super glue though.

Give it a couple coats of spray paint and what a transformation! All of a sudden it is gorgeously bright and shiny. I LOVE this stuff!!!!

Here’s one I did a few weeks ago. I had tried a glitter paint first, so when I sprayed the metallic spray paint over it, it looked almost textured and I really liked that!

Once it was up on a cake stand, you couldn’t see the base at all. It looked beautiful!
